June 7 (tom)

Blog 8

In our last event in California, last night we spent the night with a few churches at a youth rally hosted by Conejo Valley Church of Christ. Here, I got to give my first actual speech. I do enjoy giving speeches (I don’t have stage fright or anything), I just much prefer talking to people on a more personal basis. As I mentioned in one of my earlier blogs, though, I am seeing the value in a lot of things that don’t come natural to me or that I would typically shy away from. I despise paperwork, but this job helps me see its value. I would rather speak to people in a more conversational setting than get up in front of a huge group and give them a speech, but we cannot feasibly share our work with many people that way. I don’t know how comfortable I am with it, but this job is making me all business-ie and stuff…But don’t worry, we are definitely not that huge corporate beast of an organization. We spent last night in a Walmart parking lot. Lifebread, like San Diego – stayin’ classy.
